High ideals are not the exclusive preserve of the young, but they seem to go hand in hand with youthful energy and optimism. The trick is to keep our ideals burning brightly even when the vitality of youth begins to fade.

It all starts with a call, a beckoning from God that can be a whisper or can be a loud shout. Five men from the Diocese of Joliet heard that call to serve others, and their answers of “yes” resulted in their being ordained to the priesthood by Bishop J. Peter Sartain during a Mass on June 5 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet. Their backgrounds are different, but their goals are the same: to serve the people of God as priests.

Why does CIS give away free booklets?
Since its inception in 1948, CIS has been spreading the good news about Jesus and His Church by giving away Catholic information to anyone interested. Back then, the main goal was to dispel the ignorance that frequently fuelled anti-Catholic sentiment. Today, CIS continues to pursue its mission of evangelization by making it easy to get trustworthy Catholic information.

9   Link   The Columbiettes
Catholic Women's Organization to work with the Knights of Columbus. The New York Chapter Knights of Columbus formulated a plan for such an organization. Their plan called for the establishment of Auxiliaries in each Council and to coordinate the efforts of all under the direction of one parent group. On March 2, 1939 the first Columbiettes were instituted in New York City. Since that memorable day, many new auxiliaries were formed and eventually State Councils and a Supreme Council were established. New members are initiated in these subordinate Auxiliaries and it is only through the integrity, strength and scope of these Auxiliary activities that the Columbiettes have become a recognized group of women working with the Knights of Columbus, promoting the ideals of Columbianism.
